SanMichele ai Pianoni stands on the hills of the Lombardy Apennines in Oltrepò Pavese on a plateau at 400 meters above sea level on the 45th parallel North.

The area is among the most suitable for the cultivation of the Pinot Noir, due to the soil structure, the terroir, and its climate. A successful tradition that is now more than bi-centennial.

Here we take care of our vines and produce our wines.

The health of the vineyard is at the center of our work, we believe that healthy and vigorous vines have the strength to face and overcome adversity, without the use of pesticides. They are also long-lived and give precious high-quality grapes.

We have been applying the Simonit & Sirch pruning method for years - and to be even more sustainable, we return to the soil the humus produced by processing the green residues (shoots, stalks, marc) with the help of biomic bacteria.

It has therefore been natural for us to walk the path of organic certification and sustainable quality certification (SQNPI).

Grape harvesting is manual, the selected grapes are placed in small baskets for transportation to the nearby cellar.

The cellar is equipped with up-to-date technology, steel and oak barrels, temperature control, inert gas saturation, and an automated bottling line.

With patience and respect, we follow the rhythms of nature, we allow our wines the time to mature - in barrel and bottle - and evolve to fully express the character of the grape and its power.

With curiosity, we also experiment new ways, such as the ancestral method of making sparkling natural wines without sulfites.

We are independent FIVI winemakers, (CEVI network) we give thoughtful attention to the whole supply chain, from the grapes to the winemaking and bottling with our own hand-designed labels.

We work to offer wines that express the unique character of the terroir and our passion for excellence.
